The End

Finally, we arrive at the end of the book. One last time, talk about it. What you liked/didn't like. You know the drill.

227 days. Wow. Almost a whole year.
Finally my questions were answered. One of the things that drove me crazy was not knowing why the end of the book had all these lines in bold and italics. I peaked in the back at the beginning and wanted to know. Unfortunately, the answer wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. It was just the translation of the Japanese man who interviewed Pi. I thought them questioning him was a bit much, though. Even though I'm glad he talked so the book could be written, I thought he had gone through enough. If it were me, I probably wouldn't have talked for some time afterwards. But that's just me.
Another thing the really bothered me... why didn't the reporters believe Pi? I mean they travel all the way from wherever they came from to interview him and then tell Pi that he's lying!!! Who could make up a story like that? Come on. And (I'm really upset about this) who are they to determine whether the story is true or not. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!
I thought I really interesting when the Japanese decided that in Pi's fake story, Pi was the tiger. I completely agree. Pi has all the characteristics. Smart, quick, able to survive in almost any circumstance. Incredible. I still cannot get over the fact that it is true. It simply blows me away. At least I hope it's true. Otherwise, I'm the most gullible person in the world. I would recommend this book to anyone who can handle a little bit of gore and a whole lot of sadness. It's brilliant, especially where Martel connect animal instinct with psychology.
